by many as the premier site for growing Agiorgitiko grapes in Greece, comes this excellent example of modern Greek winemaking.
An outstanding new world wine wine from old world grapes! Gaia Estate is the flagship red wine from the Gaia Winery and only

CRETE $14.99
2009 LYRARAKIS, KOTSIFALI, CRETE $14.99
Highly Recommended!!!! 100% Kotsifali grapes
from just outside of Heraklion in western Crete. One of the best Cretan red wines that I have tasted so far. Really dark purple
in color with very pretty aromas, smooth tannins with dark red fruit flavors, and good acidity. This wine has a wonderful
earthiness about it that feels a touch southern French in style, very well done. Hats off to the folks at Lyrarakis for their
passion, knowledge and winemaking, this is a taste of a very old Cretan grape, what a treat. It's been said that the
Kotsifali grape can lack color, can be low in acidity, and is high in alcohol, well not this one, enjoy.
